ABOUT US
The Greater Miami Host Committee, Inc., a nonprofit civic organization was
recently honored in record by the State of Florida Legislature for 30 years of
service to Miami, the State of Florida, and International Governments.
OUR MISSION
The Greater Miami Host Committee festivals preserve and promote
the “authenticity” and indigenous culture, history, rituals, traditions,
values, beliefs, language and folk life of people from 156 nations who
call South Florida Home. These festivals have become accessible
destinations, free to entire family. They have been created for cross
cultural awareness and respect, bringing billions of people together
through cultural heritage tourism, the arts and entertainment.
WHAT MAKES US SPECIAL
Through the effort and leadership of Host Committee partnerships, the most
significant signature events in Miami history were launched, hosted and co-
produced in Miami including- Miss Universe, Miss USA, Miss Teen America,
ASTA, the 63 rd U.S. Conference of Mayors, Super Bowl XXXIX, the inaugural
Summit of the Americas, Calle Ocho, the largest Hispanic and Latin
American Festival in the World, Camacol Hemispheric Congress, The World
Cup, Miami/Broward Carnival, Trinidad and Tobago /Caricom
Emancipation Celebration, Op Sail Miami 2000, Sister Cities International,
Africando, State of Florida Fashion Week of the Americas, Miami
International Film Festival, The Asian Cultural Festival, The Taste of Miami,

WHAT PEOPLE SAY
In 1981, when the City of Miami was seeking to establish a then unknown.
concept…a “Host Committee”, the Greater Miami Host Committee Chaired
by Monty Trainer was formed and rose to the occasion as the first host
committee to incorporate in the State of Florida.
